Read MoreTyshaan will pursue his education and athletics this fall at Norfolk State University as a pre-med student.
Styshaan’s father was his role model and #1 supporter. Although a devastating experience for a young man, the untimely death of Styshaan’s father motivates Styshaan to be his best. In Styshaan’s words:
“The passing of my father serves as the foundation for my relentless pursuit towards my academic and professional goals and most importantly furthering my education. My dad was an inspiring man of integrity who always helped people, and I want to emulate him in this way. I have a passion for helping people in the field of health sciences specifically. As an athlete, I recognize the importance of physical health in promoting well-being. With my dad’s passing, I became especially interested in the function of the heart, including possible degenerative heart conditions. I have pursued this subject matter both in school and through personal research. In school, I possess an intellectual acuity in the subjects that would prepare me for an education and career in the health sciences as well as a personal acuity that allows me to succeed in anything that I pursue. As much as my dad and my dad’s passing has shaped who I am, I also recognize the importance of becoming my own man, of possessing my own identity and agency. I want to be an independent man, but I also recognize that this scholarship would not only be financially supportive but it will make it easier for me to focus on my studies. In order to be a man of consequence in the field of health sciences, or in the world at large, I will embody and demonstrate these values in everything that I do.”
